The 5th Sino-German Working-Group Meeting on Energy Efficiency Held in Berlin
On April 11th, Chinese National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) convened the 5th annual Sino-German working-group meeting on energy efficiency in Berlin, China National Energy Conservation Center (NECC) and The German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) served as co-hosters. Ren Shuben, head of the Department of Resources Conservation and Environmental Protection, and Ursula Borak, deputy director of the Department of Heating and Efficiency, attended and addressed at the meeting. The total attendance reached to more than 30 people from Chinese and German governments, agencies, and enterprises.
Director Ren shuben first introduced the Chinese progress and results gained by energy conservation as well as efficiency improvement; then he exemplified with the practical cooperation through 2018 in three fields: Sino-German energy audit for key energy users, rural energy-saving, and energy working-group. In this regard, he proposed to beef up the current projects while carrying out works such as international selection of demand and best practice, green financial program, ESCOs cooperation and so on.
For German side, Deputy Director Ursula Borak briefed on German action on energy-saving and phasing out coal, she pointed out the year of 2018 was a big year for Sino-German energy efficiency cooperation and agreed with Ren’s idea. She also advised to accelerate the implementation of current projects and formulate a detailed work plan regarding new projects in 2019.
Government officials, experts and enterprises representatives from both sides respectively reported their implementation progress concerning The Meeting Minutes of Mutual Cooperation To Promote Urban Energy Conservation, Key Energy Users Energy Audit Demonstration Project And Organize Working-Group Meeting on Energy Efficiency, and discussed mutual cooperation of 2019 in details.
As required in the Sino-German MoU on energy efficiency to implement the cooperation in concrete activities, the working-group meeting is held annually in China and Germany by rotations, so as to serve as an instrumental platform to facilitate the mutual cooperation in the form of energy efficiency workshops, capacity building, and other aspects.
